my current pc is a 2.6ghz pentium 4 cpu. with 1gb of ram and a ati radeon 9600 pro gpu. with a 40gb hd. it runs cod4 but which surprised te hell out of me. i dont want to play cyrsis i want to just be able to play some better games thats all and hopefully i can actually do somthing with this computer except playing crapy computer games over and over again.

i withdraw my bid raven can have it ill just use the $150 to buy parts for mine. i can get me a EVGA GeForce 9800 GT Video Card - 512MB GDDR3 and another 4gb of ram for $150. that shuld make my comp kinda decent by my standards.

Lol, what moron have you been talking to? EVGA 98GT over $150 on their own, and 4gb ddr1 for a P4 and XP? Whats the point of that.. bottleneck much?
And do P4 boards even have PCI-E?

normally the gpu wuld be. but i can get it for $130 then afterwards get a $20 rebate. that makes it $110 then i can get 4 gig of ram for $50 and then get a $20 rebate on that. so that puts me on $140 and yes my motherboard does have PCI-E im not a complete idiot i am making sure it is compatible wit my stuff. and even if i dont use all 4gb o ram i can use it in another comp in the future. i looked up prices my self thing is i probly wont be able to get the rebate but meh. it also means i get to build it my self which is somthing i have always wanted to be able to do. and if there is any other problem please tell me cause i still dont know all that i can and im kinda teaching myself wat the hell im doing.

is this the pc you had at the LAN the acer?

I am sure that was DDR1 and AGP it has no PCI-e and CAN NOT SUPPORT 4GB RAM (DDR1 is about $100 a GB because it is hard to get) also as far as i know NO socket 478 boards had PCI-e

i am also plannin on gettin a new motherboard. and with that a basic cpu. i worked out i culd probly get all this and above for for $250 and it might not be as good as wat chris is sellin. at least i will have somthing that i put together. and as i said im teaching myself here i have already managed to destroy many of our old computers teachin myself. but i did completely take my computer apart the other day and put it bak together without screwing it up. and if any of u guys can help me with parts that wuld be helpful i not looking for the flashyest best parts just lookin to make my comp better

If you want to make your computer better.. Don't buy ddr1.
Save up like $500, get a new mobo, ddr2 ram and the 9800GT.

Yeah, and for future reference ask someone more experienced before you start going to random sites and making plans about parts that might not even be compatible with current gear or God-forbid, in USD and not AUD >.<

tell me when u have a price for the 8800gts i will see wat i can do. ive been looking around and 8800gts and the 9600gt are apparently very similar in performance. so if i culd get it for $150 or less then u will have a deal. and is it PCI-E cause the earlier models apparently werent. just want to make sure.
